Architectural Itineraries in Barcelona

The Architects' Institute of Catalonia is committed to draw the public closer to architecture. We have an itinerary service that offers guided tours and visits with the objective to enhance the appreciation of the architectural values of the city.

Our service sheds light on Catalan Architecture together with the influx of foreign interventions, ranging from the Mies pavilion in the 1929 World Exhibition to the most recent projects.

It is principally orientated towards architects, urban planning and design professionals, the regular customers being parties of foreign architects or architecture students who visit Barcelona. Companies and associations related to the construction industry also use our services, as well as many national and foreign institutions.

In each case we adapt the tour and the commentaries according to the group, their interests and their schedule, designing an "à la carte" programme. They are available in many languages (English, French, German, Swedish, Italian, Japanese, as well as Spanish, Catalan & others...) and are guided by highly qualified architects. They may also include expert commentary and lectures.

The following 6 examples on show offer an impression of our tours: Gaudí, Montjuïc, Front Marítim, Ciutat Medieval, Raval, Diagonal Mar. With the exception of the specific itinerary on Gaudí, the rest of the proposed routes emphasize on contemporary architecture in Barcelona and include visits to recent projects as well as urban planning interventions and building sites under development.

Transport means range from walking to cycling, bus rides and boat rides.

Even though most of our activities are focused towards architects, we are open to anybody interested in our field.
